PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
2.1Overview
The robot requires very little maintenance. However, lubrication and the checks listedbelow must be performed at regular intervals to ensure efficiency.
Before starting any type of operation, read with care Chap.1. - Prescrizioni diSicurezza Generali
The robot must be serviced with the system turned off: the main circuit breakerMUST be in the OFF position.
Robots must be serviced regularly and accurately in order to maintain the originaloperating characteristics.
2.2Lubrication
The type and amount of product to be used and the frequency of operations aredescribed in Tab.2.1 -SMART NS Lubrication operations (for all robot versions). The lubrication points and the layout of the lubrication filling and drainage caps areidentified in Fig.2.1 -SMART NS Lubrication points (for all robot versions) and shownin Tab.2.2 -Position of oil and grease fill-up and drainage caps.
2.3Precautions regarding the use of lubricants
At the COMAU works all robots are lubricated using products that do not contain anyharmful substances. However, in some cases, repeated and prolonged exposure tosuch products may cause irritation of the skin and they may be harmful if swallowed. In case of contact with the eyes or skin: rinse the affected areas with copiousamounts of water; should irritation persist, seek medical advice.
If swallowed, do not induce vomiting or administer anything by mouth; seekmedical advice immediately.

(1) For the Foundry robot, the frequency of 15000 hours indicated in the table is to be shortened if the environment working temperature of the specific lubrication point is very high (more than 80 - 90 °C)
The quantity of lubricant indicated for the first filling refers to filling after a newassembly has been installed .
The quantity indicated for the second filling refers to the topping up of lubricantdrained from the assembly, considering the indicative time to drain off between10 and 15 minutes. The time required to drain off the lubricant depends on itsviscosity and the temperature of the environment where the operation takesplace.
To speed up oil drainage and fill-up operations, unscrew the caps of the air ventsin the reducers.
When filling, the use of quantities greater than those indicated in the table couldcause overflow, or in the worst cases, damage the sealing gaskets. The lubricants specified in the table cannot be mixed together

2.4Notes for replacing lubricants
2.4.1
Axis 3
The fill-up hole (Tab.2.2 - Ref.4-Axis 3 reducer topping up hole) can be turneddownwards and used to drain the oil from axis 3.
2.4.2Wrist gears axes 5 - 6
To drain off the axis 5 lubrication oil completely , arrange the wrist as shown in Fig.2.2maintaining the same sequence. Unscrew the plug on the wrist casing (Tab.2.2 -Ref.5-Oil filling-drainage on wrist gears, axes 5-6).
