“be+方向词+of．．．〞表示方向，意为“(某地)在另一地〞…方向\"，不是局部与整体关系；如果两地是局部与整体关系，那么用“be in the+方向词+of+．．．〞。如：
Shanghai is in the east of China．上海在中国东部。
拓展：be north of … =be to the north of …，意为“在…北面〞。
to the + 方位词 + of … 表示二者并列且远离关系。
in the + 方位词 + of … 表示一方在另一方(范围)之内，是附属关系。
on the + 方位词 + of … 表示二者并列且相邻，是邻居关系。

three kilometres away意为“三千米远〞，是一种表示“计量\"表达法，即“数词+单位词(米、千米、千克……)+形容词〞。如：four metres tall(四米高)；ten metres wide(十米宽) 等。需要注意是，在表计量时“远〞用away，而不用far；人“高〞用tall，而不用high。如：Yao Ming is about 2.2 6 metres tall．姚明大约2.2 6米高。
4. be sure 确信，有把握
(1) be sure to do sth. 表示说话人推测“一定，必然会〞。
(2) be sure of sth. 感到“有把握，确信〞。
(3) be sure + that从句，确信……
5. be afraid 害怕
(1) be afraid of (doing) sth. 害怕〔做〕某事，表示“怕……〞“担忧……〞
(2) be afraid to do sth. 害怕做某事，着重指“因害怕而不敢做某事〞。
(3) be afraid ( that ) 从句表示“引出不好消息或带有歉意回绝。〞
