Firstly, I will talk about analysis of the teaching Material. The topic of this unit is about illnesses and making a phone call. And this lesson is the first period of this unit. It’s a situational dialogue. So the words and phrases of illnesses and words about phone call will be used. For example cold, fever, may I speak to and so on. It also provides a real situation for the students to practice. The study of this lesson will help them take care for others’ feelings better.
Then, I’m going to talk about analysis of the students. As we all know, primary school students are curious and interested in English. But their vocabularies and reading skills are limited. Besides most of them come from countryside, so they lack practices in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
According to these, I set my teaching aims as follows: No.1 to master the new words and sentence patterns correctly No.2 to have a better understanding of the text
No.3 to use the sentences to communicate with others actively
No.4 after this lesson, students can set up self-confidence in English learning
Next part is teaching key points and difficult points
The key points are to enable the students to master the new words and sentence patterns, and to enable the students to understand the text correctly while difficult point is that the students can use sentences to ask and answer flexibly.
Well, how to achieve the teaching objectives better, how to stress the key points and overcome the difficult points, it is proper learning method and teaching method. In this period, I’ll adopt two teaching methods, one is communication method and the other is task-based method. Of course learning tip will be used for helping them.
Now let’s move on to the most important part my teaching procedures.
In terms of teaching procedure, I finish it in 5 steps.
Step 1 warm up I’m going to spend 3 minutes on it. At first, we’ll listen to a song how are you. Then, we’ll have a free talk. I’ll use body language to let the students guess what’s the matter with me? they’ll answer you’re ill and sad. It aims to introduce the topic of this unit. And it also can activate the learnt knowledge for the next part.
Step2 presentation I’ll mainly talk about this period and I’m going to spend 20minutes on it. Students independently learning and group cooperate will be mainly used. No.1 learn the new words and phrases. Such as fever, cough, come to school and so on. At first, I’ll present some
pictures about sick people and ask them to think and then tell me what’s the matter with these people? Then I’ll teach the words. It is to encourage them to try by themselves and improve their abilities of learning. No.2 learn the sentences In this period, I’ll make a model: what’s the matter? I have a cold and let our students make a dialogue and act it out in pairs. A competition will encourage them to try their best.
No.3 learn the text we’ll learn the text by listening, speaking, reading and writing. And divide this into 3 parts. 1 introduce the text I’ll show picture1and 2 and let students answer questions: who are they? What’s the matter? And find the difference between two pictures. Since they have previewed it, so they can say some details about this text, then I’ll introduce the text. 2 listen and judge I’ll play the tape, the students need to listen carefully and finish true or false questions which I present on the ppt. group leader will check the answers and help the failed students. On one hand, their listening and recognizing abilities will be well trained, on the other hand, they must focus on the task, as time passes, they will form a good habit of concentration. 3 read and follow that is to say, we’ll come into intensive reading and read aloud. The students will read the text silently and underline the key sentences about phone call and have a report. After that they’ll listen to the tape again and I’ll pause after every line to check their pronunciation and intonation. This is an extremely important part of the lesson, as the students must
make every efforts to understand the text through the questions. I think after the 3 parts, majority of the students will have a better understanding of this text.
Step3 practice I’m going to spend 7 minutes on it. I’ll ask them to make a role play. Then we’ll take on the character headgears and play roles of them. Practice plays an important role in this lesson. The students will say freely and loudly. They will be happy and successful during this part. By means of communicating, they will have a better understanding of the text and master the knowledge firmly.
Step4 consolidation I’ll spend 10 minutes on it. This part is the consolidation of the text and also is an extensive activity for the students. I’ll show a video and activate them to take care for others’ feelings. During this part, students will be glad to use the knowledge they have learnt and their creative power will be well trained.
Step 5 homework as the students’ levels are different, so I layout three kinds of homework. No. 1 copy the new words and read the text No. 2 retell the text and imitate the pronunciation No. 3make a phone to your classmate who is ill. They can choose one to do.
Finally, I’ll talk about my blackboard design, I’ll divide the blackboard into 2 parts. The left part is for the new words and phrases, the right part is for the students’ competition system.
Conclusion in this lesson, students learn and practice actively, I’ll pay more attention to the students’ interests, life experience and different levels of knowledge during the class. I’ll give every efforts to let students take part in more, practice more and cooperate more. I believe, the high quality and happy class will be achieved after that.
To be a good teacher is my dream, I think a teacher is not only a guide for the students, but also a friend of them. If I were a teacher, I would build a close relation with my students, helping them not only on their studies, but also on their lives. I’ll give my every efforts to lead and accompany the children to study and grow up happily. That’s all, thank you.
