What Do Mom and Dad Do at Home on the Weekends? Yay, it's finally the weekend! No more school for a couple days. On the weekends, my mom and dad are home from work and we get to spend lots of time together as a family. It's my favorite part of the week!
On Saturday mornings, my mom and dad like to sleep in a little bit later than normal. My sister and I try to be quiet and not wake them up too early. We tip-toe to the living room and watch cartoons on the TV. Mom usually comes out first, with her hair all messy and her pjs on. She yawns really big and stretches her arms up over her head. \"Good morning, sleepyheads!\" she says in a silly voice. We all giggle at her silliness.
Then Dad comes shuffling out, still looking half asleep. He rubs his eyes and picks me up to snuggle on the couch. I can hear his tummy rumbling because he's hungry. \"Who wants pancakes for breakfast?\" he asks in his deep Dad voice. \"Me me me!\" we all shout and jump up and down.
Dad gets started on mixing up the pancake batter. He lets me and my sister take turns stirring it. Mom gets out the skillet and bacon and eggs to make too. Our kitchen is a crazy mess by the time breakfast is ready, but the pancakes always taste amazing!
After we eat, it's time to clean up the big mess we made. Dad washes the dishes while Mom wipes down the counters and tables. We kids are supposed to help too by clearing our plates and sweeping the floor. Sometimes I try to sneak out of doing my chores, but Mom always catches me. \"Nice try, mister!\" she'll say with her hands on her hips, giving me that look. Once the kitchen is all clean, we spend the rest of the morning doing fun stuff together. Dad might take us to the park to play on the swings and slides. Or we'll have a family game time with board games and puzzles. My dad is really competitive and gets all silly when he loses. He makes goofy faces and noises that crack us up laughing.
Mom likes to make craft projects with us too. One time we made homemade Play-Doh and sculpted little animals. Another time we made these cute refrigerator magnets out of bottle caps. Mom is really creative and good at art stuff.
After a busy morning of playing and making messes, we all work up an appetite for lunch. Dad fires up the grill outside and makes juicy hamburgers and hot dogs. Mom prepares all the fixin's like lettuce, tomatoes, and her famous pasta salad. We eat our lunch out on the patio, soaking up the warm sunshine. In the afternoon once the weather cools off, Dad takes us kids out in the yard to run around and get our energy out. He teaches us games like freeze dance and red rover. Sometimes he turns on the sprinklers and we run through them to beat the heat. We come inside later soaked from head to toe! Mom just laughs and gets us dry towels.
Mom and Dad both like to relax a little bit in the early evening before making dinner. Dad watches sports on TV and scratches his belly. Mom reads books or magazines and sips her favorite wine. Us kids play with toys and games quietly to give them a break.
For dinner, it's usually something simple but yummy like tacos, spaghetti, or Mom's homemade soup and biscuits. We all help set the table and pour drinks for each other. I love it when we all sit down together at the dining room table to share a nice meal.
After dinner, we clear the table and do the dishes again as a family. Mom and Dad take turns giving us kid baths and putting on our pajamas. We watch a movie together cuddled on the couch or have a living room camp-out with blankets and popcorn!
Before bedtime, we socialize some more together by playing silly joking games and doing puzzles. Dad is the best at telling funny stories with so much expression and sound effects. He really cracks Mom and us up! We also take turns sharing our favorite parts about the day as a family.
Finally, Mom does her special bedtime routine getting us tucked in snug as a bug. Shesmothers us with hugs and kisses as we beg for one more story or few more minutes to stay up late. \"Maybe tomorrow night,\" she'll say with a little wink. \"I love you to the moon and back!\"
Dad comes in next with a flashlight under his face pretending to be a spooky monster! We all squeal and laugh uncontrollably at his silliness. Then he gives hugs and says his classic line, \"Sweet dreams, my little monkeys!\" And with that, Mom and Dad quietly leave to have their grown-up time together.
The weekends are the absolute best. I wouldn't want to spend them any other way than with my goofy, loving mom and dad at home just being together as a family. I'm already counting down the days until next weekend!

What My Parents Do on Weekends
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm going to tell you all about what my mom and dad like to do at home when it's the weekend. The weekends are the best because I don't have to go to school and my parents don't have to go to work either. We get to spend the whole day together as a family!
On Saturday mornings, my dad is usually the first one up. He's kind of like a rooster - he wakes up bright and early even when he doesn't have to. I think he just really likes mornings. The first thing he does is make a pot of coffee for him and my mom. The smell always wakes me up and I go join him in the kitchen. \"Good morning, pumpkin!\" he'll say as he ruffles my hair. I ask if I can have a doughnut or some chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. If I'm lucky and we have the ingredients, he'll make me whatever special breakfast I request. But most of the time we just have cereal or oatmeal.
Once my mom finally wakes up and comes downstairs, she takes over cooking duty from my dad. She's a much better cook than he is. Dad can make basic things like pancakes and eggs, but mom is a real master chef. On weekends, she'll often make a big fancy brunch for us - things like waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, omelets with all kinds of fillings, hash browns, bacon, the works! While she cooks, dad likes to read the newspaper covernees to coverness. He'll read out loud any interesting news stories he comes across.
After we've stuffed ourselves full of mom's delicious brunch, we'll usually watch a movie together as a family. Mom and dad take turns picking the movie. Dad always picks an old classic film that he says is \"a real cinematic masterpiece.\" Mom likes to pick lighthearted comedies. I'm just happy as long as it's not a super boring documentary!
In the afternoon, mom and dad like to do outdoor activities together. Dad's favorite is yard work - he'll spend hours mowing the lawn, trimming the hedges, pulling weeds, and getting dirt everywhere. I think he just really likes being outside and working up a sweat. Mom prefers gardening and planting colorful flowers. She has a whole section of the backyard devoted to her garden.
While dad is working on the yard, mom will be tending to her garden, humming little songs to herself. It's very peaceful. Sometimes I'll help out too by raking leaves or using my kid-sized gardening tools in mom's garden. But to be honest, after an hour or so I get bored and want to go play. That's when I'll beg dad to take me to the park so I can run around on the playground while he takes a break and reads his book. Mom always packs us a healthy snack to take, like sliced fruits and veggies. No junk food allowed!
In the evenings, we'll have a casual dinner at home, just the three of us. Mom and dad take turns cooking. Dad's specialties are things like spaghetti, tacos, and grilled burgers. Mom makes more complicated meals with all sorts of vegetables and sauces I can't pronounce. Sometimes we'll have a themed dinner night - like make-your-own pizza night or taco night. Those are always fun.
After dinner is family game night! We'll all crowd around the living room and play board games and card games together. Dad is the reigning champion of Monopoly but I always cream him at Candy Land. We get pretty competitive, but at the end of the day we know it's all just for fun. When it gets close to my
bedtime, we'll have one final game of Go Fish or War before I have to go upstairs for a bath and bedtime story.
Sundays are a lot like Saturdays in our house. More yard work and gardening for mom and dad. More movies and games. We'll also go for a family hike in the woods behind our house sometimes. Mom packs us a delicious picnic lunch to eat at the top of the trail. I love exploring the forest and looking for cool bugs and stuff.
At the end of the weekend, I'm always a little sad that Monday is coming and my parents have to go back to work during the week. But I know I'll have good memories from our weekend days spent together as a family. Mom and dad work really hard all week, so I'm glad they can relax at home on the weekends doing the things they love - like cooking, gardening, watching movies, and playing games with yours truly! I'm a lucky kid.
Well, that's all I've got to share about my awesome parents and what they get up to on our super fun family weekends at home. I can't wait for next Saturday and Sunday to roll around again. Thanks for reading my essay, friends! See you next time!

What My Mom and Dad Do on Weekends
On Saturdays and Sundays, my mom and dad are home from work and we get to hang out together as a family. It's my favorite time of the week! Every weekend is a little different, but there are some things they always seem to do.
In the mornings, my dad likes to sleep in a little bit later than on weekdays. My mom is usually up first, making breakfast for all of us. She makes yummy things like pancakes, waffles, eggs, and bacon. Sometimes Dad will cook too - he makes great omelets! While they're cooking, the smells wake me up and make my tummy rumble. I come downstairs in my PJs, rub my eyes, and they give me a big hug.
After breakfast, Mom and Dad do household chores around the house. Dad mows the lawn and does yard work outside when it's nice out. He also takes out the trash and recycling. Mom does laundry - she washes, dries, folds, and puts away everyone's clothes. She also cleans like vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning the bathrooms. Sometimes I try to help out by making my bed, cleaning my room, or doing small jobs. We turn on music and it makes the chores feel kind of fun!
In the afternoons, we'll usually go do something fun together as a family. One weekend, we might go to the park and
have a picnic lunch. Dad plays catch with me and pushes me on the swings. Another weekend, we'll go bowling or to the movies and get popcorn. In the summer, we love going to the community pool and swimming all day. In the winter, we'll go sledding or build snowmen if there's snow. Sometimes we just stay home, bake cookies or cakes, and play games as a family. We have a closet full of classics like Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Sorry, and Guess Who.
On Sunday evenings, we always have a nice dinner together as a family. Mom or Dad will make something delicious like roasted chicken, baked ziti, tacos, or Mom's famous meatloaf. We set the table, light candles, and talk about our weeks. After dinner, I have to get ready for bed and do my homework for Monday. Mom helps me with anything I need, like spelling words or math problems.
Dad always watches the big sports games on TV in the evenings - football, basketball, baseball, you name it! He yells and cheers for his favorite teams. Sometimes I watch with him and we eat snacks like chips, salsa, and guacamole. Other times, Mom and I will do something else while he's watching sports, like reading books or playing cards. At the end of the night, we all give big hugs and kisses before heading to bed.
Weekends are the absolute best! There's no school, Mom and Dad are both home, we can sleep in, and we get to do fun stuff together. Sure, Mom and Dad still have to do chores and grown-up things. But they make time for all the fun too. We play games, go on outings, watch movies, and just enjoy being a family. I wish it could be the weekend all the time!

What My Mom and Dad Do at Home on the Weekends Weekends are the best time for me and my family! School is out and we don't have to wake up super early. My mom and dad get to stay home from their jobs too. They always have lots of stuff planned for us to do together.
On Saturday mornings, my dad makes us all a big breakfast. He cracks a ton of eggs into a bowl and scrambles them up on the stove. Then he fries up some bacon and sausage patties. My favorite part is when he makes pancakes or waffles! He lets me pour the batter onto the hot griddle and I get to pick if I want chocolate chips or not. Whenever he makes pancakes, mom always tells him \"Don't make a mess!\" But he usually ends up getting a little batter everywhere anyway. She pretends to be
mad but I can tell she's not really. I think she likes when dad cooks breakfast.
After we eat, mom has us all pitch in and help clean up the kitchen. Me and my little brother clear the table and load the dishwasher while mom and dad wipe down the counters and stove top. If it's nice out, we'll open up the windows and let in some fresh air. Mom says weekend mornings are for getting chores done early so we have the rest of the day to have fun. Once the kitchen is all clean, we move on to other chores. Dad goes outside to mow the lawn and pull any weeds from the garden. He makes me and my brother come out to help pick up sticks and rake the grass clippings. It's hot work, but dad always has some cold lemonade ready for us. While dad works outside, mom does laundry and changes everyone's bed sheets. She lets me help by putting the clean sheets back on my bed and making sure it looks neat. Sometimes I get to run the vacuum too if I promise to be really careful.
When all the chores are done, it's finally playtime! On Saturdays, dad likes to take us bowling or to the movies. Bowling is my favorite because I get to pick out a colorful ball and smash down as many pins as I can. Dad says I have a heck of an arm! At the movies, mom always packs a bag of popcorn to sneak in. She
says it's silly to pay for snacks at the theater when she can make them at home. I don't mind because her popcorn is delicious! Dad grumbles about having to put his phone away but I think he secretly likes watching the movie without any distractions. Sunday mornings are a bit more relaxed. We usually go to church and then out for a big family breakfast at a diner or pancake house. Mom and dad let me get chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream on top! After breakfast, dad likes to read the newspaper while mom catches up on her favourite TV shows. Sometimes dad falls asleep on the couch and starts snoring really loudly. It's pretty funny!
In the afternoon, we'll take the dog for a walk around the neighborhood if it's nice out. Dad likes to explore nature trails too when we have time. We always pack waters and snacks in a little backpack. Mom makes sure we put on sunscreen and bugspray so we don't get too burned or bite up by mosquitoes. She's good about stuff like that.
When we get back home, dad fires up the grill for some burgers or hotdogs for dinner. He shows me how to make the patties and put the hotdog spirals on the buns. I love getting to help! Mom usually makes a salad and sides like corn on the cob or baked beans. She lets me tear up the lettuce for the salad.
After we eat our dinner on the patio, dad and I sometimes play a game of catch or do some batting practice in the backyard. I'm getting pretty good!
As it starts to get dark out, we head inside to get ready for bed. Mom gives us all baths and combs out our hair while dad picks out a family movie for us to watch together. We make popcorn (again!) and cuddle up on the couch under big blankets. I always fall asleep before the movie is over because I'm so cozy. Mom carries me up to my room and tucks me into bed.
That's pretty much how our weekends go! Filled with chores, activities, yummy food, and lots of family time. Even though mom and dad seem to be constantly working, they still make sure we have a ton of fun. I really love my weekends with them! Spending time together as a family is the best.

What Do My Mom and Dad Do on the Weekends?
On the weekends, my mom and dad are home from work and don't have to go to their offices. The weekends are fun times when we get to spend more time together as a family. My mom and dad do lots of different things around the house and also take me and my little brother on outings and adventures!
One thing my parents always do on weekend mornings is make a big breakfast. My dad is the breakfast chef. He cracks eggs into a bowl and scrambles them up on the stove. He fries bacon and sausage patties until they're crispy. My mom toasts English muffins or bagels and cuts up fruit to have on the side. Sometimes my dad makes pancakes or waffles from a box mix. He lets me help by pouring in the milk and cracking the eggs. My little brother just makes a mess! After we eat the big breakfast together, my mom has us all help clean up the dishes and wipe down the counters.
While my dad is cooking breakfast, my mom picks up toys and clutter around the living room. She's always telling us to clean up after ourselves! She vacuums the carpets and dusts the furniture. On some Saturdays, she has us all pitch in to do a \"deep clean\" where we wash windows, scrub the bathtub, and mop the kitchen floor. It's not fun, but she says many hands make light work. I'd rather be outside playing!
My dad spends part of the weekend doing work around the house and yard too. He mows the lawn every Saturday using our purple lawn mower. He rakes up grass clippings and bag of leaves if it's fall. Dad also washes his car on the driveway using big buckets of soapy water and a strong hose. He sprays off the
dirt and dried mud from the tires and wheels. I like to \"help\" by splashing water at him! Mom doesn't like it when we get the driveway all wet though.
Inside the house, my dad fixes anything that's broken. Last month he patched a hole in the drywall in my bedroom where I accidentally kicked a ball. He has lots of tools in the garage like hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, and power saws. Sometimes he builds shelves or furniture from wood for mom's decorating projects around the house. Dad really enjoys working with his hands on projects like that.
After they've done their chores and housework, my parents like to relax for a little bit. My dad grabs a drink and turns on the big TV to watch basketball, football, or golf - whatever sporting event is on that day. He yells at the TV a lot when his teams aren't playing well! Mom just rolls her eyes at him. She curls up on the couch under a blanket to read one of her books or magazines. They don't always agree on the TV shows to watch together. Eventually my parents have to feed me and my little brother again for lunch. Mom makes sandwiches or we'll have easy stuff like mac n' cheese or chicken nuggets. After lunch is rest time, which means my little brother has to take a nap. I'm too old for naps, but Mom makes me go into my room to have \"quiet time\"
to read books or play alone for a little bit. That's when Mom and Dad can have peace and quiet!
In the afternoons on weekends, my parents like to get out of the house and do something fun as a family. Sometimes we pack a picnic in a cooler and find a nice grassy spot at the park to eat our sandwiches and snacks outside. My dad plays catches with me and throws the frisbee around. Or we'll go hiking on nature trails in the woods near our house. Mom carries a big backpack with waters and snacks for all of us. I like looking for cool bugs, deer, and birds when we're hiking.
Other weekend afternoons, we'll make a trip into the city to go museums, libraries, or attractions like the zoo, aquarium, or science center. I learn a lot of neat stuff at those places. We also go to matinee movies sometimes. My parents take turns picking whatever movie they want to see. Dad likes superhero and action movies while mom prefers comedies and dramas. We gorge ourselves on tubs of buttery popcorn with tons of salt and squirty cheese on top!
For dinner on the weekends, we have bigger meals that my parents have more time to prepare. My mom makes dishes like roasted chicken with potatoes and carrots, beef tacos with all the fixings, homemade soup and salad, or pasta with thick sauce full
of vegetables. She lets me help measure ingredients and mix things together. Dad grills burgers, hotdogs, or steak on the backyard grill a lot of weekends too when it's warm enough outside. We eat our weekend dinners at the dining room table together instead of in front of the TV like on weeknights.
After I take a bath and get my pajamas on, our family has a little more quality time before bedtime. Sometimes we'll play board games like Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, or Guess Who? if Dad isn't too tired and grumpy. My dad and brother get really competitive and into the games! Other nights we have family movie time with popcorn and snuggies on the couch. We'll watch one of my movies or shows if I'm good. If not, it's my parents' choice!
Pretty soon it's time for me and my brother to go to sleep. We beg and beg mom and dad to let us stay up later on weekends, but they are pretty strict about bedtimes. They take turns tucking me in, reading bedtime stories, and saying prayers with me before I go to sleep. Before they leave my room, my mom reminds me to get lots of good sleep because we have another fun weekend day ahead of us tomorrow! I can't wait to see what adventures we'll go on.
I sure do love weekends with my mom and dad at home! We get to spend quality time together as a family. They work hard with chores, cleaning, and projects around the house, but also make time for relaxation, fun activities, and outings with me and my little brother. My parents keep us busy with games, reading, sports, museums, movies and more. My weekends with mom and dad are my favorite!
