Dear Tommy,
How's it going? I had such an awesome weekend and I can't wait to tell you all about it! You won't believe the fun adventures I had. Get ready for a long story!
It all started on Friday after school. Mom picked me up and said we were going somewhere really cool for the weekend. I got so excited wondering where we could be going. Was it the beach? A waterpark? The circus? I just couldn't guess.
When we got home, Dad was waiting with our packed suitcases. \"We're going camping!\" he announced. Camping?! I'd never been camping before but I'd heard so many fun stories from my friends who had gone. This was going to be epic! We loaded up the car and started driving. After what felt like forever, we pulled into a campground in the middle of the woods. Dad parked and we all grabbed our stuff to set up our tent. Have you ever tried to put up a tent before? It's not as easy as it looks!
Mom and Dad struggled for a while following the confusing directions, but eventually we got it up. Our little home for the weekend was all ready.
Once the tent was good to go, it was getting dark so we made a fire pit to make s'mores. There's nothing quite like a warm, gooey, chocolate s'more fresh off the fire! We told spooky stories and looked at the stars before going to bed. Sleeping in a tent with just the sounds of nature around was pretty cool. The next morning, we woke up bright and early. After a quick breakfast, we went on a hike through the forest. Have you ever been deep in the woods before? The trees seemed to stretch up forever and the dirt paths were covered in leaves and twigs that crunched under our feet. Along the trail, we spotted all sorts of critters - squirrels, rabbits, deer, and even a couple snakes! We made sure to stay far away from those slithery guys. The hiking trails led us to a huge lake surrounded by mountains. The water was so clear and refreshing after our long walk. We spent a few hours swimming, skipping rocks, and building sandcastles on the shore. A family of ducks even waddled up to say hello!
After working up an appetite from all that activity, we headed back to our campsite for a cookout lunch. You can't go
camping without cooking over the fire! We roasted hot dogs and made some gooey campfire nachos piled high with cheese, salsa, and all the fixings. I thought I was going to explode, I was so full! That afternoon, we tried our hand at fishing on the lake. Have you ever gone fishing before? It takes a ton of patience just sitting there waiting for a nibble. Dad kept trying to teach us the perfect technique for casting out our lines. It took me about a million tries before I finally got the hang of it without getting my hook caught in a tree or bush behind me! At one

Dear Jessica,
How was your weekend? Mine was so much fun, I can't wait to tell you all about it! I had a big soccer game on Saturday morning. We played against the Red Rockets, who are one of the best teams in our league. I was really nervous before the game because I didn't want to let my teammates down.
When we got to the field, I saw that a bunch of parents had come to watch and cheer us on, including my mom and dad. That made me feel a little bit better. We did our warm-up drills and then it was time to start. The first half was pretty even - we were tied 0-0 at halftime. But then in the second half, I got a
breakaway and scored the first goal! You should have seen how excited I was. I was jumping up and down cheering.
After that, we just kept up the pressure on their defense. Timmy scored another goal for us with about 10 minutes left. At the end, we won 2-0! The whole team was so happy. All the parents rushed onto the field to congratulate us. My mom gave me a huge hug and said she was proud of me. Then we all went out for pizza and ice cream to celebrate our big win.
On Sunday, I slept in a little bit since I was tired from the game. For lunch, we went over to my grandma's house. She made her famous spaghetti and meatballs, which is my absolute favorite meal. I probably ate way too much because it's so delicious. Grandma always gives me extra meatballs because she knows I love them.
After lunch, my dad suggested we all go to the park to get some fresh air and walk around. We brought a frisbee to toss around. I'm not very good at throwing it yet, but my dad is really good and he showed me some tips. We played until we got kind of hot, and then we stopped at the ice cream truck before heading home. I got a chocolate ice cream cone piled high with sprinkles.
Once we got back home, I worked on some homework that was due on Monday. I had to write a book report on Charlotte's Web, which I just finished reading. I really liked that book, especially the character of Wilbur the pig. My dad helped me proofread my report before I printed it out.
For dinner, we just had some leftovers from the fridge - chicken, rice, and vegetables. Then I took a bath and got ready for bed. I was pretty tired after such an active weekend! Before I fell asleep, I reflected on what a nice couple of days I had. Winning the soccer game was definitely the highlight. I can't wait for our next game this upcoming Saturday.
Well, that's pretty much how my weekend went! I wish you could have been there with me, especially for the soccer game. We'll have to get together soon and you can tell me what you were up to. I'll talk to you later! Your friend, [Your name]

Dear Friend,
Hey! How was your weekend? Mine was really fun and exciting. I did so many cool things that I can't wait to tell you all about it!
On Friday after school, my mom picked me up and we went straight to the grocery store. We had to get all the ingredients for the awesome things we were going to make over the weekend. We got flour, sugar, eggs, butter, chocolate chips, and all sorts of other yummy stuff. I could already tell it was going to be a tasty few days!
When we got home, my dad was already there from work. He helped us bring in all the grocery bags from the car. Then my mom said we were going to bake cookies! I was so excited. Baking is my favorite thing to do. We made chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies with colorful sprinkles on top. I got to crack the eggs and stir the batter. My mom let me put the cookies on the baking sheets too. While they were in the oven, the smell was making my mouth water! After they cooled off, I got to try one of each kind. They were delicious!
For dinner, we ordered pizza from my favorite place. We got a pepperoni pizza and a veggie pizza with mushrooms, green peppers, and black olives. My parents let me have three slices because I was such a good helper with the baking. Afterwards,
we played a board game together as a family. It was a fun way to end the night.
On Saturday morning, I woke up really early because I was too excited to sleep in. I watched some cartoons while my parents were still sleeping. For breakfast, we had pancakes with berries and maple syrup. My dad makes the best pancakes. They were so fluffy and yummy!
After breakfast, we all got ready and my dad said we were going on a hiking adventure! I loved the idea of going hiking. We packed a picnic lunch, put on our hiking boots and hats, and drove up into the mountains near our town. The hiking trail we went on went through the woods and along a stream. We saw chipmunks, squirrels, and even a deer! At lunchtime, we stopped at a pretty spot right next to the stream to eat our sandwiches, fruits, and veggies. The water was cool and refreshing to stick my feet into.
When we got back home, I was pretty tired from all the walking. I rested for a little bit and then went outside to play on my

Dear Buddy,
How was your weekend? I had such an awesome time over the last couple of days and I can't wait to tell you all about it! Grab a snack because this is going to be a long letter.
On Friday after school, my mom picked me up and surprised me by taking me to the movies! We saw the new superhero movie that just came out. It was so cool seeing the heroes fight the bad guys with their awesome powers. My favorite part was when the heroes teamed up to take down the villain at the end. The special effects were crazy! During the big fight scene, it felt like the heroes were right there in the theater with us. I jumped out of my seat a few times because the action seemed so real. We got a huge tub of popcorn to share and I drank a ginormous Icee that turned my tongue bright blue. I was buzzing from all the sugar by the time the movie ended!
When we got home, my dad had set up the sprinklers in the backyard. As soon as I saw the water spraying everywhere, I dropped my backpack, kicked off my shoes, and ran straight through the streams of water. The cool drops felt so refreshing after being inside the hot movie theater for two hours. My clothes were absolutely soaked within a couple minutes, but I didn't even care. I was having a blast chasing my dog Rufus around and trying to get him wet too. He wasn't a huge fan of
the sprinklers at first and kept dodging the sprays of water. But eventually he got into it and we were both running circles, barking like crazy kids. We played in the sprinklers until way after the sun went down. By the time we came inside, my hair was dripping, my clothes were drenched, and I was shivering cold but grinning from ear-to-ear.
Saturday morning, I woke up excited because my cousins were coming over for a big family breakfast. Aunt Melissa and Uncle Greg arrived first with my cousins Emily and Ryan. I hadn't seen them in forever so we were all screaming and giggling when they walked through the door. Emily is 10 like me, and Ryan just turned 8 a couple weeks ago. As soon as they put down their bags, we grabbed Ryan and started tickling him like crazy. He was laughing so hard he could barely breathe. Then Grandma and Grandpa came over, and finally Mom's sister Aunt Carol arrived with her new baby Jacob. He is only 3 months old and is the cutest, tiniest little thing! We all took turns snuggling him and making silly faces to get him to smile that glorious baby smile.
For breakfast, Dad made his famous chocolate chip pancakes. He always lets me help by cracking the eggs, mixing the batter, and sprinkling in the chocolate chips. I think I ate
about 8 pancakes drowned in a lake of syrup. Grandma brought her delicious hash browns too which are my absolute favorite. We all stuffed ourselves until we could barely move.
After breakfast, the cousins and I went outside to run around and play. We decided to set up a lemonade stand on the front lawn to try and make some money. Emily and I gathered up all the supplies like pitchers, cups, ice, and little umbrellas to decorate the stand while Ryan collected pine cones to use as pretend money. Once everything was ready, we took turns shouting like carnival barkers at every car that drove by: \"Lemonade for sale! Only 25 cents a cup! Come get your cold, refreshing lemonade here!\" A couple neighbors stopped to buy cups, and we even convinced Grandma and Grandpa to be our first customers. They paid us in actual quarters instead of pine cone money, which was pretty awesome. We made 3.50 total which we split between the three of us. With my share, I bought a Godzilla action figure from Ryan for 1.25 that I've had my eye on for months. He was happy to get the money and I was pumped to finally get the toy!
Later that night, our whole family including aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and even baby Jacob stayed over for a big sleepover. We ate pizzas for dinner and then roasted s'mores
around a firepit in the backyard when it got dark. We told scary stories and looked for shooting stars in the night sky. I've never seen so many at once! I must have spotted at least 10 bright streaks racing across the heavens. Around 11 o'clock, we all grabbed sleeping bags and set up our camps throughout the living room. Grandma and Grandpa got the couch, my parents took the big arm chair, and all us kids claimed spots on the floor. We built sofa cushion forts and stayed up way past our bedtimes whispering and giggling together as a family. Even though the floor was kind of hard and uncomfortable, I've never slept better. On Sunday morning, my cousin Emily and I hosted a mini makeover salon in the bathroom. We brought all our make-up kits, nail polishes, brushes, hair clips and accessories we could find. Aunt Melissa and my mom were our first clients, and we gave them full manicures, pedicures, hairstyles, and made up their faces with sparkling eyes and bright red lips. We made them look like beauty queens! They played along and acted like our makeovers were incredibly gorgeous. Then it was Uncle Greg and Dad's turn to get makeovers next. We put green polish on their toenails, painted their fingernails black, pulled half their hair into bouncy ponytails, and went a little overboard with the blush, eye shadow, and lipstick on their faces. They looked absolutely ridiculous which made the whole family collapse into laughter.
Even Grandma and Grandpa couldn't stop giggling at their sons' make-unders. I've never seen my dad and uncle laugh so hard! Aunt Carol didn't want baby Jacob to get a makeover because of all the smelly nail polish and makeup, so we just clipped a couple hairpins and bows into his fuzzy blonde hair which made him look adorable.
After everyone headed home later that afternoon, I felt so happy but also a little sad because I had so much fun and didn't want the weekend to end. We crammed so many awesome activities and quality time with family into just a couple days. From the superhero movie on Friday night, to running through the sprinklers, having a huge breakfast with all my cousins, putting on a lemonade stand and sleepover, and turning our house into a makeover salon - this was one of the most memorable weekends ever! I already can't wait for the next one to roll around. Weekends with my family are the absolute best! What did you get up to over the last couple days? I hope your weekend was as action-packed and fun as mine was. Write back soon and tell me everything! Your friend, [Your name]

Dear Polly,
Hey bestie! I'm so excited to tell you all about my super fun weekend. You won't believe the awesome adventures I had! It was the best ever.
On Saturday morning, I woke up really early because I was just too pumped to sleep in. I had been looking forward to this day for weeks and weeks! Do you remember me telling you that my parents promised to take me to the waterpark if I got good grades? Well, I worked my little booty off and got straight A's, so they had to keep their word.
We jumped in the car and drove for what felt like forever to get to Splishin' Safari Waterpark. When we finally made it, my jaw just dropped to the floor. The place was ginormous! There were towering waterslides every color of the rainbow soaring into the sky. I could hear kids squealing and splashing in the wave pool. I couldn't wait to get my feet wet too!
First up, my parents made me and my little brother slather on about a million layers of sunscreen. They didn't want us to get crispy critters! Once we were fully lathered up, we dropped our stuff down and made a mad dash for the Superfunnel Body Slide.
My heart was racing as we climbed up the never-ending stairs. Finally, it was my turn and I plopped down on my mat and whizzed through the pitch black funnel, getting tossed this way and that. I couldn't stop giggling the whole way down!
After that, we went on pretty much every other slide at the park too - the Aqua Racers, the Seven Seas Sea Serpents, you name it! My favorite was definitely the Coconut Cannons though. It was this huge sphere shaped like a coconut and you got locked inside this capsule filled with water. Then, without any warning, the floor dropped out from under you and you were sent freefalling through loops and curves until you finally came shooting out the bottom into a swimming pool! I must have gone on that one a dozen times at least.
In between rides, we made sure to spend some time in the giant wave pool too. My brother and I had a blast jumping and diving over the never-ending swells. And when we got hungry, my dad got us these amazing chili cheese nachos from one of the snack shacks. My mouth is watering just thinking about them!
By the end of the day, I was one pooped pup. I could barely keep my eyes open on the drive home. As soon as I walked
through the front door, I just crashed on the couch and was out like a light! Waterparks sure can take it out of a kid.
On Sunday, I had just enough energy left to have a few friends over for a sleepover pool party at my house. We spent pretty much the whole day splashing around and showing off our most outrageous belly flops and cannonballs. My friends Jacob and Emma are awesome swimmers, so we had some epic waterballoon fights too! I got them good a few times, but they definitely got me even better.
After we had gotten our fill of the pool, we moved the party inside for a hilariously awful movie night. We made a smorgasbord of our favorite junk foods - pizza rolls, chicken nuggets, candy galore! We all stuffed ourselves silly as we watched one cheesy B-movie after another. Halfway through \"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes,\" I was already feeling like a blimp about to pop!
Once the movies were over, we busted out the classic sleepover games and stayed up pretty much all night. We did truth or dare, would you rather, told ghost stories - you know, all the usual shenanigans. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long, long time.
Before I knew it, my dad was hollering upstairs at us to keep it down because it was almost time for breakfast! We were all total zombies by the time our parents came to pick everyone up later that morning, but we had had an absolute blast.
So that's the lowdown on my weekend, bestie! Non-stop waterpark madness followed by a classic sleepover pool party with my besties. I don't know how I'm going to top that level of fun anytime soon. I already can't wait for next weekend! Maybe we can make it a waterpark sleepover extravaganza... Your BFF, [Your name]

Dear Friend,
How was your weekend? Mine was so fun and exciting! I did lots of cool stuff. Let me tell you all about it.
On Friday after school, my mom picked me up and we went straight to the grocery store. We had to get ingredients for a special dinner we were making that night. My dad was going to help cook too. While we were at the store, I got to pick out a treat for myself - I chose a big chocolate chip cookie! Yum!
When we got home, mom and dad got right to work in the kitchen. I tried to help by stirring things and cracking eggs, but I'm not the best cook yet. I made a bit of a mess! Haha! We were making chicken parmesan with spaghetti and garlic bread. My favorite! While it was cooking, I played outside on my swing set and jumped on the trampoline for a little bit.
Finally dinner was ready and it tasted amazing! The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The pasta had the perfect sauce. And the garlic bread was warm with melty butter. After we cleaned up, we watched a movie together as a family. It was a silly animated comedy about a racing snail. I laughed a lot!
On Saturday morning, I woke up pretty early because I was so excited. My friend Marcus was having his 9th birthday party at a trampoline park! My parents dropped me off at 10am and there were already a bunch of kids there. We all got special grip socks to wear so we wouldn't slip.
The trampoline park was huge! It had tons of different rooms with trampolines everywhere - on the floors, walls, and even angled ceilings! My favorite was the dodgeball court where we could jump up super high to catch and throw the balls.
Another cool part was the foam pit filled with cushy foam blocks. We could jump off a platform right into it!
At one point they played music and we all got to freestyle jump and do flips and tricks. I'm not very good at flips yet, but some kids
