摘要：A proline rich, tandem repeat domain of human mucin MUC1 forms an extendedstructure containing large repeating loops that are crested by a turn. The repeating loopstructure of MUC1 can be replaced by an Φ loop of an immunoglobulin-superfamilyprotein to create a chimeric, multivalent, mucin-like, compound. The mucin/Φ loopchimera retains the binding specificity of the parent immunoglobulin-superfamily protein.The design and construction of chimeric peptides are general, theoretically limited onlyby the size of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The peptides can be used for a variety ofprophylactic and therapeutic applications.
