In the morning, we went camping along a path in Green Natural Park. We were happy because it was a sunny day. We were expecting an enjoyable two-day holiday. On the way, we kept singing and making jokes.
However, in the afternoon, when we finished our picnic at one o’clock, it was dark and windy. Soon, there was a shower. Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to hide.
Twenty minutes passed and it was still raining, There were hours to go before we reached the campsite (野营地). It was even worse that our small pass (指南针) showed that we went to the wrong way. We had lost our way!
We had to make a quick decision as it was raining heavily. Chris said we could set up a tent to hide in, so Mary and Tom helped to set up the tent. Chris and I tried to make a fire to keep us warm. But we were unable to light the fire, as everything was wet. We dried ourselves, chatted and waited inside the tent. At about five o’clock, it stopped raining. We decided to give up the camping trip because all of us had been very tired.

Do American children still learn handwriting(手稿) in school? In the age of the keyboard, some people seem to think handwriting lessons are on the way out. 90% of teachers say they are required to teach handwriting .But studies have yet to answer the question of how well they are teaching it. One study published this year found that about three out of every four teachers say they are not prepared to teach handwriting. Some teachers are teaching handwriting by providing instruction(指导) for 10 —15 minutes a day, and then other teachers who basically teach it for 60 to 70 minutes a day — which really for handwriting is pretty

much.
Many adults remember learning that way — by copying letters over and over again. Today’ s thinking is that short periods of practice are better. Many experts also think handwriting should not be taught by itself. Instead , they say it should be used as a way to get students to express ideas. After all, that is why we write.
Handwriting involves(包含) two skills. One is legibility, which means forming the letters so they can be read. The other is fluency — writing without having to think about it. Fluency continues to develop up until high school.
But not everyone masters(掌握) these skills. Teachers monly report that about one fourth of their kids have poor handwriting. Some people might think handwriting is not important any more because of puters and voice recognition programs.
But Steve Graham at Vanderbilt says word processing is rarely done in elementary school, especially in the early years. American children traditionally first learn to print, and then to write in cursive, which connects the letters. But guess what we learned from a spokeswoman for the College Board, which administers the SAT college admission test. More than 75 percent of students choose to print their essay on the test rather than write in cursive.

The National Dark-Sky Week (NDSW) is a week during which people all over the United States turn off their lights to enjoy the beauty of the night sky without light pollution. This event was started by Jennifer Barlow of Midlothian, Virginia in xx, and it is being more popular each year. It has been supported by the International Dark-Sky Association, the American Astronomical Society, and the Astronomical League.
This event always occurs in April, during the week of the new moon so that the sky can be as dark as possible for the best viewing conditions.

Another goal of this event is to promote (促进) the use of better lighting systems that direct light toward the ground instead of up into the sky.
Jennifer Barlow states, “The night sky is a gift of such beauty that it should not be polluted by wasted light. In this way, our children will not lose touch with the wonder of our universe.” 72. This passage is mainly about ______________. A. better lighting systems

understanding what others have to say.
While many employees are able to perform(执行) important functions on their own, working as a team brings a wide range of talents and resources to a project that would be almost impossible for just one person to match. Ideas on the project itself and how to achieve its goals can be exchanged, and new points of view voiced, which would be difficult to achieve with just one person, who may be firmly fixed on one perspective (思考方法),thus lowering the quality of the results.
Because a team is a group of people, each with their own opinions and personalities, conflicts(冲突) can and do arise. If not acted upon swiftly and effectively, this can lower morale (士气) in the team and reduce productivity, affecting the quality of results achieved. A team can also take longer than an individual to achieve a goal, as organizing a team often requires considerable preparation.
Having a good team working on a project ensures(确保) that the task will be dealt with thoroughly(彻底的) and this means the goal will be achieved with a very high quality.
