I am Amy Chew. I graduated from this school in 2014. I'm glad to be here today to speak to you about the importance of accepting your body. I used to be anorexic (厌食的); I was extremely thin: my head, which looked abnormally huge, was barely supported by my backbone.

It would take an hour for me to eat a spoon of food. Should I attempt to eat to comfort my parents or teachers, I would lock myself in the toilet and throw up the food. I looked pale and weak all the time because of the lack of food. My family members were annoyed. They cried a lot.

It all started when a boy in my class called me“fat”. It was painful. I adopted an extremely strict diet and exercise method. I lost 10kg within three months and continued to lose more weight. I was

absolutely addicted to losing even more weight. One day, my heart rate dropped and I was breathless! I almost lost my life. That was when I decided to turn my life around.

Looking good is extremely important to a teenager. We want to look a certain way so we can be popular and accepted. We are attracted by good shapes. Now, with social media, we have access to a pool of photographs of people, whose bodies and appearances we admire. Those images make us envious. We long to be like them.

We're in danger when we start to look down upon the way we look and take extreme measures to attain the body we dream of having. These measures can lead to eating disorders, unrealistic and unhealthy exercise habits, low self-respect and depression. Besides affecting the physical health, teenagers who are body conscious can also suffer from mental instability. They may fall into despair, guilt and hopelessness. If you are currently experiencing these feelings, seek help before it is too late.

24. Which can show the author's change in her figure A. Bony→fat→normal. B. Fat→bony→normal. C. Bony→normal→fat. D. Fat→normal→bony.

25. What made the author decide on changing her lifestyle A. Pursuit of beauty.

B. Persuasion of her parents. C. Falling behind others in grades. D. Being laughed at for her figure. 26. What's the best title for the text A. Accept your body. B. Stick to your dream. C. Be confident and brave. D. Lose weight properly.

27. What would be talked about in the following paragraph most probably

A. The necessity of keeping a balanced diet. B. The risk of losing weight blindly on one's own. C. The importance of feeling positive about your image. D. The standards of healthy eating and exercise habits. C

Many children are introduced to animals through TV shows or movies. Shaun the Sheep,an animated (动画) series, features a variety of animals living at the Mossy Bottom Farm. Among them, naughty Shaun is the clever leader of his group of sheep. Sheep in this animation look a bit different from common ones because the TV show used the Valais Blacknose sheep as the model.

There are few animals that make people say“Aww!”in a high voice as quickly as theValais Blacknose sheep. Known as the cutest sheep in the world, these animals come from theValais region in

Switzerland. They are instantly recognizable thanks to their striking appearance. They have soft, white wool, which contrasts with the black small pieces spread evenly over their faces and found on their ears, knees, and ankles (脚踝). The sheep also have horns (角) popping out of their wool.

The Valais Blacknose sheep have a rich history deeply rooted in the Swiss Alps. They were originally raised in the 15th century for their highly valued wool, which has been traditionally used to produce luxurious textiles and garments (奢华的纺织品与服装). However, it was not until 1962 that they were officially recognized as a species. Their population once decreased, but dedicated conservation efforts have been implemented to protect this unique species. These efforts have been successful, and the Valais Blacknose sheep can now be found in various parts of the globe.

Looking like a combination of a lamb and a teddy bear, the Valais Blacknose sheep has found its place in the hearts of many people. They are also raised as pets due to their cute, gentle, and friendly nature, which makes them perfect companions. However, it's important for owners to consider their needs, including appropriate living environment, nutrition, and space to wander. Whether as wool producers or beloved pets, the Valais Blacknose sheep have earned their fame in being helpful animals.

28. Why is the show Shaun the Sheep mentioned in the passage A. Its characters include the Valais Blacknose sheep. B. It uses the name of the first Valais Blacknose sheep.

C. It teaches people how to raise the Valais Blacknose sheep properly.

D. Its producer observed the Valais Blacknose sheep to create the animation.

29. Which parts of a Valais Blacknose sheep might be black A. Face and knees. B. Head and ears. C. Ears and body. D. Tail and ankles.

30. Why are Valais Blacknose sheep raised as pets A. They are easy to raise.

B. They can help the owners work. C. They are easy to get along with. D. They are devoted to their owners.

31. What can we learn about the Valais Blacknose sheep from the text

It is often said that if we dream in a foreign language, it's a sign that we are making progress in learning that language. But is it true Before we can look at multilingual (多种语言的) dreams, first we need to look at sleep. The link between sleep and language can be applied to how we learn any language, including our mother tongue. Even adults still learn about one new word every two days in their first language, but, if we are going to have a firm grasp of that new word, we need to link it to our existing knowledge. And in order to do that, we“need to have some sleep”, says Gareth Gaskell, a psychology professor at the University of York.

It's during sleep that the fusion of old and new knowledge happens. At night, one part of our brain——the hippocampus(海马体)——takes whatever new information it absorbed in the day, and passes it on to other parts of the brain to be stored. The role that dreams play in this night-time learning process is still being studied, but“it's entirely possible that during multilingual dreams, the brain is trying to connect two languages”, says Mar c Züst, researcher at the University Hospital of Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Bern, Switzerland.

So having multilingual dreams could mean that our brain is trying to master a new word or phrase, for example, but it could also have an influence on our feelings. Danuta Gabry -Barker, a professor of

psycholinguistics at the University of Silesia in Poland, suggests that multilingual dreams can express “fears and desires” around learning a foreign language, including the wish to be a native-like speaker or to be accepted within a certain community.

We clearly still have a lot to learn about multilingual dreams, but one thing seems certain: if you're trying to learn a new language, you should definitely sleep on it.

32. How often do adults learn a new word in their native language A. Occasionally. B. Never. C. Frequently. D. Hardly ever.

33. What needs to happen if we are going to have a good understanding of a new word

A. Use it in reality. B. Repeat it in dreams.

C. Remember it in the day. D. Connect it with our knowledge. 34. What does the underlined word “fusion” in paragraph 3 refer to A. Reflection. B. Combination. C. Addition. D. Imagination.

35. What effect could multilingual dreams have on learning a foreign language

A. Emotional. B. Calming. C. Shivering D. Challenging. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)

“Deal,” said Leo, taking his bag of biscuits out of his lunchbox. While Leo was opening his lunchbox, I noticed a folded piece of paper at the bottom of his lunchbox.

“What's that ” asked Alice, a girl in our class. Before Leo could answer, Alice grabbed the piece of paper and she immediately unfolded it and read it in a loud voice: “Dear Leo, enjoy your lunch and share the food with your friends! I hope you have a great day. Love, Mom.”

Alice asked in astonishment, “Your mom puts notes in your lunchbox ”

Leo said in an unfriendly and even a bit annoyed voice, “Yes. My mother puts love notes in my lunchbox every day. She wants me to have a great lunch time with friends.”

Alice read the note again, to herself. It almost looked as if she wanted to keep it.

“What are you thinking Alice! Give it back to Leo! It's not yours!” I said.

“Well, who wants a note anyway ” Alice said.

To everyone's surprise, Alice threw the note away and it fell to the floor. I picked it up quickly and handed it back to Leo, who put it into his pocket.

On the bus that afternoon, I thought about what had happened. My father arrived home just after I did. “How was your day, honey ” Father asked. “A girl in my class was mean to Leo,” I said. And then I explained the way Alice had acted. Suddenly I had an idea. “That's it! I know how to help Leo and Alice.” I explained my idea to Father. Father agreed to help and we worked on the plan all afternoon. 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

M: It was my 17th birthday that day. On my previous birthdays, my family and I always went out to eat at a restaurant, and I didn't think they were very enjoyable. And I thought that my17th birthday would be like any of my previous ones. That day, my parents and my sister asked me to come home early after school. So I came back early that day without playing basketball with my classmates as usual. My house was normal just like any other day. The lamps in front of my house were on, but the whole house was dark. I entered the house. As soon as I was in my house I heard people say “Surprise! Happy Birthday!\". Then the light in the house was turned on. All of my family and friends were there. My mom took out a birthday cake she made herself. I was so happy and almost cried. My parents also gave me a permission to take care of the abandoned cats that I had told them about one month ago. That gift was my best birthday gift ever. Ten years later, I still remember that day very clearly.
