DC’ Revenge

Renewable energy are used more widely than before. It makes grid faces more challenges from security issues.

100 years ago, after Thomas Edison invented the lamp, DC is the mainstream in the market. However DC was defeated by AC as the reason of technology improvement and electricity need increasing. AC started its over 100 years domination.

1903, Thomas Edison directed a electrocution show which executed an elephant with 6000volt AC to prove the danger of AC.

Finally, Thomas Edison failed. Edison General Electronic Company became General Electronic Company without Edison’s name.

Ironically, Edison loose the war, but 100 year later, DC’ revenge nis coming back.

Renewable energy subsidy problems

Renewable energy development fund was born with financing gap. Now renewable energy electricity price additional funds break the pale. According to incomplete statistics, 2009 the gap is 1.3billion, 2010 the gap is 2 billion and 2011 it is 10 billion.

Everyone knows the gap, but nobody knows the exact number. The related government departments do not do regular accounts and announcement.

With the increasing install capacity, the gap is increasing too. Deficit spending is accepted as a recognized statement in this career.

The exceeds expectation speed of renewable energy makes the huge gap.

Hysteretic subsidy even makes some companies bankrupt. How to solve this problem?

Energy cooperation between China and Russia: good looking more than action

There is a double-headed eagle on the the national emblem of Russia. It shows its authentic Roman empire descent. But now it has another meaning: Russia’s “WEST and EAST” national geostrategy.

But when we look at the history we can easily find that Russia always chose WEST first and EAST is just a backup and best of a bad bunch.

Recently Russia is not that powerful in European Gas market, it heads to east again. For China, sea transportation energy is always preference, Russia is also a backup in the situation of Malacca problem.

Maybe China is not that anxious. But we have to think about that if we can not get energy through Malacca, can we get energy from Russia fluently?
