Fly high with dreams

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! It is really my pleasure to stand here and share with you something about dreams.

Everybody has his or her own dream. The dreams in our life usually become our life goal. As Leo Tolstory has said，dream is the lighthouse. Without dream, there is no secure directions; without directions, there is no life.

In the human history, many great people have great attributions to our human society. What they have in common is that they have their own great dreams and devote themselves to achieving them. It was dreams that made them fly high in the history sky.

As Chinese people, we should know about Yuan Longping. Many years ago Yuan Longping had a dream that he wanted to grow rice as tall as sorghum. In 1974, he became the first agricultural pioneer in the world to grow super hybrid rice. Thanks to his research, China can support 22 percent of the world’s people with just 7 percent of the farmland. Thanks to his research, the UN has more tools in the battle to rid the world of hunger.

Do you remember “Iron Lady”? Last month, I felt very sad to hear that she passed away. Like most people I admire Thatcher very much. She is very smart, firm and calm. As a child, she

showed great interest in politics. She once dreamed of becoming the first female prime minister in England. Through years of hard work she succeeded. In 1979 the first female prime minister in British history was born in England.

Do you know about Martin Luther King? Of course, he is well-known to us all as a freedom fighter. There is no doubt that he had a big dream, that is, in America blacks and whites should have equal rights. In 1903 he gave the famous speech “I have a dream” in Washington D.C, which inspired people to fight for equality. Then he changed the society.

As we all know, dreaming for things costs nothing. We should get brave to dream our dreams. Dreams are to us young people what wings are to birds. Look, birds spread their wings to fly in the sky. Let’s fly high with our dreams!
