Is it good for students to do some housework?
Some people think students need not do any housework. They think the only thing students need to do is to study well. I don’t think so. It is good for students to do some housework for three reasons.
Firstly, to do some housework can make you independent. You can’t depend on others all your life. So, you should learn to do some housework now.
Secondly, to do some housework can keep you healthy and strong; some hard housework, such as cleaning up the house, gardening and moving the furniture, can be regarded as a kind of physical exercise.
Finally, to do some housework can share your parents’ work. They must be happy if you say \"Have a rest, and I will do the housework.\" after a whole day’s tiring work.
So I think it is good for students to do some housework.

When Justin Tong was a child, other kids felt sorry for him. His parents always made him do lots of housework such as carrying out the rubbish and sending newspapers. But when he grew up, he was better off than his childhood friends and lived a happier and healthier life.
This is the finding of a 40-year study that followed the lives of 456 children in London. It showed that the children who had worked hard in childhood had a richer and happier future. “Children who worked in the home or community gained competence(能力)and came to feel they were worthwhile(重要的)members of society, ” said

Daniel Brown, the psychologist(心理学家)who made the discovery. “And because they felt good about themselves, others felt good about them.”
Brown’s study followed these children in great detail. Working—at any age—is important. Childhood activities help a child develop responsibility, independence confidence and competence—the underpinnings(基础)of emotional health. They also help him understand that people must cooperate and work toward common goals. The most competent adults are those who know how to do this.

Many parents make their children do chores around the house. For some families, teaching children what to do and how to do chores is easy. But in other families, getting

children to do some housework can be a very big problem.
It is a good idea for parents to teach their children at an early age that all family members must work together to make the house clean, and each person must do his or her share(份) of the work. We can do this by starting a plan of chores and responsibilities when children are young.
Chores are good for children—even very young ones. Doing chores teaches children many important skills such as working together and being responsible. Jobs also teach children what is fair and doing things for others. The skills and values from doing chores will do good to children all their lives.
